Important Notes for "Make a Payment"

This function directly connects to the online payment gateway which allows you to pay premium and levy for Insurance policy with your VISA / MasterCard / UnionPay / JCB / DISCOVER / Diners Club Card.

  1. The Payment is made by the (Proposed) Policyholder, (Proposed) insured or beneficiary.
  2. An administration fee will be charged on each successful online payment transaction for VISA / MasterCard / UnionPay / JCB / DISCOVER / Diners Club Card. The administration fee may be subject to change without further notice. In case of any refund, any refund of administration fee charged in the original is subject to the sole discretion of Generali.
  3. The Payment may be subject to a transaction limit imposed by the card issuing bank, individual account balance, payment processing bank and/or oversea funds transfer upper limit (as imposed by the bank), whichever is lower.
  4. All transaction amount will be paid in the transaction currency adopted by respective online payment gateway. Transaction currency varies between different online payment gateways. If your policy currency is different from the transaction currency of the online payment gateway selected and/or account currency of your VISA / MasterCard / UnionPay / JCB / DISCOVER / Diners Club Card, a currency conversion process will be involved. In other words, premium and levy amount in policy currency will be converted into transaction currency at a currency exchange rate determined by Generali, and such premium and levy amount in transaction currency will then be debited from your VISA / MasterCard / UnionPay / JCB / DISCOVER / Diners Club Card at a currency exchange rate determined by the online payment gateway and card issuing bank.
  5. In case of premium and levy refund (if any), a currency conversion process taking place at Generali and /or at the online payment gateway and bank level may again be involved which might result in the refund amount being less than the amount paid in the original transaction. In both cases, VISA / MasterCard / UnionPay / JCB / DISCOVER / Diners Club Card holder may also be subject to applicable charge(s) imposed by respective card issuing banks. Generali takes no responsibility for the exchange rate or such other fees applied by your card issuing banks in whatsoever circumstances.
  6. Generali’s obligation to you in relation to the functionality of the payment gateways, is limited to providing the technical support means to facilitate the functionality of the payment gateways to support the payment and is not responsible for its performance and function. Generali is not responsible if there is a security breach affecting any information stored in the payment gateways or sent from the payment gateways.
  7. Generali is not otherwise liable for the use, functionality, or availability of the payment gateways, including any service issues caused by third party communication providers (unless as otherwise required by law).
  8. Generali does not make any guarantees or warranties that the payment gateways will be accepted by all merchants/ card issuers/ banks. Generali is not liable for any loss, injury or inconvenience you suffer as a result of a merchant / card issuer / bank refusing to accept the payment gateways.
  9. Generali will not be liable for any loss arising from your use of the payment gateways via this Platform to the extent that a loss as caused by:
    1. Your fraud
    2. Your use of the payment gateways in a manner that is inconsistent or not permitted by the issuer of the payment, or
    3. Subject to the requirement at law, limited service caused by matters beyond Generali’s reasonable control.
  10. Generali will not be liable to any person or entity in any event as a result of or in connection any rules, laws, regulation, or administrative measures not enacted in Hong Kong/ not promulgated by statutory regulators in Hong Kong.
  11. These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of Hong Kong.
  12. With effect from 1 January 2018, levy collected by the Insurance Authority has been imposed on relevant policy at the applicable rate and would be remitted in accordance with the prescribed arrangements.
